#AmazonCart

Amazon is in the news this week (when is Amazon not in the news?).  They have partnered with Twitter to create a new way to shop your Twitter feed.  You can link your Amazon and Twitter accounts. Don’t know how to do this?

  1. Log into Amazon
  2. Click My Account
  3. Select My Account
  4. Scroll to the bottom to find Personalization
  5. Click Your Social Settings
  6. Set your settings to your preferences

THEN,

When you find a product on Twitter that has an Amazon link, you can reply to the Tweet with the hashtag #Amazoncart and that product will be placed in your cart for the next time you log into Amazon.

You aren’t buying the product when you reply with your hashtag, just putting it into your cart to purchase later, supposedly saving you time. You can always remove the item later.

Now, when I first heard about this, my immediate response was not, “Wow! I am always looking for Amazon stuff to buy on Twitter! This will be SO helpful!” However, after flipping through my feed a bit, I see lots of books and movies, new coffee and home products being talked about. I could be persuaded to add these products to my cart in an effort to not have to try and remember what I saw or where I saw it later. I don’t think I would do it every day, but once in a while.

What do you think? Is this new feature something that you will find very useful? Or, like me, are you having trouble envisioning when you might actually use it?

Prime Pantry

If you are a current Amazon Prime member, you are probably already aware of and excited about Amazon Pantry. An extension of Amazon Prime, Prime Pantry allows you to fill up a large box (approximately 4 cubic feet, or 45 pounds) with whatever you need from their  2, 000 (and growing) pantry items. These are every day sizes, not the huge quantities you may be used to seeing from Amazon Subscribe and Save.  For the small fee of $5.99 a box you can shop, fill your box (Amazon keeps track so you don’t have to) with any amount up to 45 pounds of food, baby items, cleaning supplies, pet care items, home and garden items. It will be delivered to your door in just a couple of days. I could set it up to have cereal delivered to my house three times a week. That would save me a TON of time.

Amazon Prime Pantry

For busy people, this could be a real life saver. I know looking at my coming week what days I may or may not be able to get to the grocery store, Target, etc. Using the Prime Pantry service might just be the best way to get necessary items in house – and you get to skip all the tempting items down those colorful Target aisles…hmm. You may want to think this one through a bit – after all, there is no Starbucks at the front door of the Amazon site.

So, will this convince you to finally take the plunge and buy a Prime membership? If you already have one, do you think this service makes the new $99 membership fee more worthwhile? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
